Seeing how I was born and raised in upstate NY my allegiance is with the AFC specifically the East. But over the years, I’m finding great satisfaction in watching the NFC East. Inside of this division there are multiple story lines that could be tagged as “juicy gossip.”
• Noticeably, Terrell Owens, an ex-eagle and a current cowboy. That story line is last year, but with the injury to his hand, Bill Parcells gone and a QB whom he likes thus far he hasn’t been a distraction. That’s noteworthy!
Tony Romo…forget about the fumbled field goal in Seattle that would have had your team going to the playoffs. Sidenote: I willing to wager a bet that he won’t be holding any this year.
Tuna is gone, worn out. I never seen him look so dejected after a football season. Let’s see how Wade Phillips is going to do, under his head coach/owner Jerry Jones.
• Any Reid and the Philadelphia Eagles. hmmm where to begin:
Both of Andy Reid’s son were arrested some months back on drug related charges. Me personally, I think its win or get tanked for Andy.
Donovan McNabb has too prove he can go an entire season injury-free, a torn ACL ended his last season. The Eagles organization decided to draft a QB, there’s a hint of concern.
They let Dante Stallworth go to the Patriots. (they seem to make every post)
Brian Westbrook and the defense are solid but the WRs are questionable.
• Hail to the Redskins! I don’t know why, when they sucked last year. Too many changes. You have the money, but you need time. Give your team a chance to gel. There’s a rotating door at Redskin stadium and if you add injury to the mix, you have a 5-11 team.
Clinton Portis is coming back from a shoulder injury. Run Clinton Run..you still haven’t showed why they gave up Champ Bailey for you. I bet some folks miss Stephen Davis.
The defense has quite a few new additions. Jerametrius Butler, London Fletcher, and Fred Smoot is back for another round. He’s a motivator, so this should help with team moral in the locker room.
Jason Campbell (QB) has the entire season to run the show without having to look over his back. He has heart, a strong arm and height to his advantage. Unless his gets hurt, Mark Brunell will continue to hold the clip board on the side lines.
Chris Cooley and Santana Moss are solid, dependable hands, so the TDs are there.
• The New York football Giants. They had a pretty interesting year. Finishing 8-8 was almost a shoe-in to the playoff, but not so fast.
The organization showed their loyalty and faith in Tom Coughlin by extending his contract. Good move.
Tiki Barber retired but Brandon Jacobs is ready to take his place. I don’t think there’s a bigger RB in the division. It’ll take 2 men to knock him down and a safety coming off the corner to catch him.
Plaxico Burress running across the middle would be nice, but I don’t think they want him hurt. Keep streaking him down the sidelines…who can’t out jump him? Randy Moss is on offense.
Michael Strahan should be back and ready to bookend the line of defense with Osi Umenyiora.
Lavar Arrington was cut and hasn’t been signed to a team as of today. He hasn’t left NY, so he could play for the Jets?
Sinorice Moss should see more playing time until Amani Toomer gets his timing and sped back up to par.
Eli Manning, whatever you do, find a way to get Jeremy Shockey involved. Seeing him run over somebody is always a treat!
