    Thursday Night Football

Written by pigskinlovinglady on November 29, 2007 at 12:41 pm

It sucks to be you if you don’t have the NFL Network. A great game is coming on this evening when the Dallas Cowboys (10-1) host the Green Bay Packers (10-1). This game could possibly be a preview of the NFC Championship game. With this being the only game showing and home field advantage on the line, we’re in for a treat.

I just hope Bryant Gumbel brings his “A” game tonight. His dull, over-analytical sense of humor, can bring the best of us down. *crossing my fingers*

This game has all the necessary components to be replayed as an instant classic: TO, Favre, the Dallas fans, the Cheese-heads, prime time airing and playoff potential! I for one don’t care who wins, I just want everybody to shake hands and come out fighting!

For those of you without the channel, hit up your friends house, go to the local bar or bootleg some cable, lol The bottom line_____________JUST WATCH THE GAME!

    Let’s Talk About It Tomorrow.

    RIP Sean Taylor

    Sean Taylor – 1983 – 2007

MIAMI (AP) — Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor has died from injuries sustained when he was shot in the leg, said family friend Richard Sharpstein. He was 24.

Sharpstein said he did not know exactly when Taylor died.

Taylor was shot early Monday in his home in the upper leg, damaging an artery and causing significant blood loss. Miami-Dade Police were investigating the attack.

Taylor played at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American in 2003, and was also a high school standout in the city. His father, Pedro Taylor, is the police chief of Florida City.

Taylor had a troublesome first two years in the NFL after he was drafted No. 5 overall by the Redskins in 2004, but he had mostly behaved after his daughter, Jackie, was born in May 2006.

Taylor has been fined at least seven times during his professional career for late hits and other infractions. He was also fined $25,000 for skipping a mandatory rookie symposium shortly after he was drafted.

In 2005, Taylor was accused of brandishing a gun at a man during a fight over some all-terrain vehicles that had allegedly been stolen. Last year, he reached a deal in which he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to 18 months’ probation. The pleas prompted another fine from the NFL but kept his football career intact.

Life is short. Live right, Love hard, and Laugh often.

    Half Way There

Written by pigskinlovinglady on November 9, 2007 at 9:12 am

There’s 6 weeks left in the regular season and the leaders of the pack have set themselves apart from the rest of the league. While there’s still many teams showing improvement from week to week, the playoff picture can only be drawn in pencil thus far. You have some unassuming contenders, quietly putting together a notable season. While it’s clear who these teams are in the AFC, the NFC is still up for grabs. We could be looking at teams with records of 8 – 8 in the playoffs.

Here’s my analysis of the teams going into week 10.

    Possible Super Bowl Participants
New England Patriots (9-0) The record says it all.

Indianapolis Colts (7-1) These are the defending champions, playing with that proverbial monkey on their back.

Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) Defense – check. Offense – check.

Green Bay Packers (7-1) Brett Favre has only thrown 8 INTs, with a QB rating of 93.3.

Dallas Cowboys (7-1) They’re only lost was to the Pats. Romo, Owens and the defense looks great.

    The Contenders
New York Giants (6-2) The Giants has put together a 6 game winning streak – impressive! The NFC East is holding its own.
Detroit Lions (6-2) Jon Kitna predicted 10 wins and they are 4 games out. With the Bears in the basement, they could still be playing come January.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-4) Although the Bucs are the divisional leaders, it’s hails from one of the weakest divisions. However, I do take my hat off to Jeff Garcia.

Cleveland Browns (5-3) Surprise..surprise. Derrick Andersen has recharged the team and the city. I pick the Browns to be a wild-card team in the playoffs.

Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3) Poor Jacksonville. They’ve lost their 1st and 2nd string QB and their in the division with the Colts.

Kansas City Chiefs (4-4) The Chiefs have quietly taken the lead in their division. I don’t think they’re a good enough to hold on to it.

Our Record Doesn’t Reflect Our True Potential
Seattle Seahawks (4-4) Shawn Alexander is hurt and so goes the team.

San Diego Chargers (4-4) Norv Turner is being too careful. Open up the offense, spread the field…RUN LT!

New Orleans Saints (4-4) Drew Brees is finally hitting his stride and the Saints are looking to overcome the three games lost at the start of the season.

Buffalo Bills (4-4) Two games lost by 1 pt., and giving up the lead has this young team sitting at .500. So be it, they reside in the AFC East.

Washington Redskins (5-3) Injuries to key players has really hurt the ‘Skins. The “hamstring” epidemic has run amuck. Jason Campbell doesn’t have anybody to throw too.

Minnesota Vikings (3-5) You have the NFL’s MVP on your team, but if you can’t pass the ball, you won’t win games.

Chicago Bears (3-5) Where’s the offense? Thomas Jones is a Jet, and boy is that looking like a big mistake. The defense is on the field for majority of the game and they’re banged up as well.

    Are You Really This Bad?
Philadelphia Eagles (3-5) Donovan says he’s not the only one to blame for their loses. He’s right, but as the leader, you have some explaining to do. My opinion, he still isn’t 100% and the WR position still hasn’t been addressed.

Carolina Panthers (4-4) I didn’t think an injury to Jake Delhomme would have impacted this team as much. But when you go and get a 43 year old QB to be your starter…that says it a lot. Steve Smith has to be apart of the offense.

Baltimore Ravens (4-4) They’re old. Steve McNair, the defense and the game plan.

Denver Broncos (3-5) Rod Smith contemplating retirement, Javon Walker hurt, means who will Jay Culter throw too? They sit in the AFC West, so its still possible for them to make a run into the post season.

Arizona Cardinals (3-5) Matt Leinart, then Kurt Warner, then both, and finally, there was one. In spite of the QB mish mashing, Edgerrin James still can’t run the ball.

Cincinnati Bengals (2-6) The Bengals have fallen back in time. No longer are they asking, “Who Dey”, but instead WTF?

New York Jets (1-8) Had Mangini benched Chad 3 games ago…o well, the season is awash. Look to the draft for which cometh your help- offensive line, address the need.

St. Louis Rams (0- 8) No words as to why the Rams still haven’t won a game. They usually even win a couple at home in the dome.

Miami Dolphins (0-8) Cam Cameron was already facing a daunting task as the head coach. Then Trent Green gets another concussion, Ronnie Brown has a torn ACL and Chris Chambers fled to San Diego.

They are who we thought they were?
Houston Texans (4-5) Injuries to Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson have sideline this team. As they become healthy, they’ll play “spoiler” for those teams looking to get into the playoffs.

San Francisco 49ers (2-6) They started the season very strong. The injury to Alex Smith, interrupted the flow. They’re still young and jelling…next year will be “show and tell”
    for them.

Atlanta Falcons (2-6) With Mike Vick facing federal charges, the Falcons have become what we all knew they would- an “Arrested Development.”

Oakland Raiders (2-6) Who the QB for the Raiders. The constant merry-go-round for that position has left the silver and black all bruised up.
