Back in August, Roddy White received a 6- year, $50 million dollar contract extension from the Atlanta Falcons that came with a stipulation. The Falcons posed the question, “what about your friends”? Although White doesn’t have a history of misconduct, 3 of his childhood buddies from South Carolina do. They lived with White at the time and several remained in the Atlanta area during his first four years. The Atlanta Falcons, not willing to risk $$ or future embarrassment for their organization, had background checks done on them. They weren’t asking Roddy to part ways with his friends, but understand the separation of business and friendship. After the Mike Vick fiasco, can you really blame them? Roddy was slated to receive $18M guaranteed.
For White, the decision to grow up was already in the making.
“We talked about it and it was like, ‘Hey, you’re going to have to do something about this’ and I said, ‘I know,’ ” said White, who has become one of the league’s top deep threats over the past two years and is on his way to his third consecutive 1,000-yard season. “But me and my [fiancé], we had been talking about it already by then. She and I said, ‘Hey, you got to move on from stuff eventually. You got to move on from stuff you used to do. You’re at a different stature now. You’re going to be looked at as not that person you used to be, you’re one of the elite players of this league. You can’t go sneaking around and doing the things you used to do and get away with.’
“Basically, that’s what I did, took that move and just kind of moved them away from me.”
You can read more here. Let me know if you agree or disagree with the actions of the Falcons’ organization?

Sports Illustrated placed Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Tony Romo and Ben Roethlisberger on next weeks’ cover with that very question. I personally think the QB is the hardest position to play. They initiate almost all the plays. QBs have the responsibility in both calling plays and making decisions during the play. They are on the field the most, while other positions have backups (unless they get injured.) QBs are the most visible player on a team. It is also why they’re normally drafted first and get paid the most money. That’s a lot of pressure!
Aaron Rogers has one of the best WR cores in the NFL. One year after the Favre BS, can they win the NFC North?

The National Football League is better than a soap opera with all its juicy story lines. The executives that write up the schedule know exactly how to keep us intrigued and watching. I always wonder if I, a fan, am this excited, the players must be going CRAZYYYY!!!
I’m not referring to the normal rivalries such as the Redskins vs. Cowboys or the Chiefs vs. Raiders, but I’ll take those game for $100 Alex. But during the off season trades happen. Some NFL’ers departs for more $$ after winning a Super Bowl…that’s cool. But what about discarded and incensed players. What are they thinking?
I know Edgerrin James wanted out of Arizona. But now that he’s with the Seahawks, you know he has those games marked with an asterisk!
Brian Dawkins traveling back to Lincoln Field to face the Eagles. You don’t think he wants a few INTs? Read More…

PSA to NFL’ers: If your boy was a knucklehead when you were young and broke, he’s going to be a knucklehead when you are older and rich. It’s not an obligation to bring your boys up your success ladder. It’s okay to weed your garden as it begins to blossom, it’ll save you time and embarrassment. Not blaming you Harry Douglas, but you need less people.

A woman reported she was raped at a party at the Buford home of Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas, Gwinnett police said.
Police say Douglas is not a suspect and had no knowledge of the incident. The woman, who is in her 20s, called police about 5 a.m. Thursday.
She said she went to a party at Douglas’ home on Wednesday night. She got tired and fell asleep in one of the bedrooms. “She was then awoken by a male who was sexually assaulting her,” the police press release stated. “The victim fled the scene to another location where she called 911 to report what had just happened.”
The woman gave investigators the name of a possible suspect.
