Previous cover boys have wound up getting injured but Drew Brees isn’t concerned.
“No pain,” Brees says with a laugh. “I’m not worried about getting hit in ‘Madden.’ It’s a little different when you’re out there for real and you have to be aware of who is trying to knock your head off. If I get hit in the game, all that happens is my controller shakes.”
Brees was actually voted in by fans as the cover boy for the Madden 11 game, over Jared Allen of the Vikings and Reggie Wayne of the Colts. There’s enough voodoo in New Orleans to ward off all evil spirits and curses, lol
Pre-order the new game here. Madden 2011 release date is 8/10/10.

WHO DAT? It’s the New Orleans Saints of course. When you knock Brett Favre out of the playoffs to attend your 1st Super Bowl, anything short of a cover would be uncivilized.
SI’s Peter King writes – Big Easy Does It – Mardi Gras came early in New Orleans after the Saints dumped the Vikings to give the beleaguered citizens their first Super Bowl
Coming up with a motivational tool is huge for NFL coaches, particularly on the eve of an important game. Last Saturday night, before the biggest game in the 43-year history of the Saints, New Orleans coach Sean Payton produced a doozy at the team’s downtown hotel. As the players settled in for their last team meeting before the NFC Championship Game against the Vikings, the lights dimmed, Aerosmith’s Dream On started playing at a Superdome-decibel level, and on the video screen at the front of the room great moments in sports history went by in rapid-fire order.
Babe Ruth homering, Michael Jordan scoring, Pete Maravich floating, Roberto Clemente fielding, Tiger Woodsfist-pumping, Eddie Robinson coaching, Wayne Gretzky scoring, Jim Valvano leaping, Larry Bird shooting, Muhammad Ali punching, the Bears Super Bowl–shuffling, Doug Flutie passing, the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team celebrating—on and on, as goose bumps rose to the pulsating chorus: “Dream on, dream on, dream on….” Read More…

Washington Redskin’s QB Jason Campbell is the latest to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. The magazine poses the question “Pressure Points and Pivotal Players.” The Redskins are one of five teams “feeling the pressure,” according the the mag, along with the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles in the QB position.
I agree with the list and would also add San Francisco and Carolina. In the NFL is you aren’t winning, somebody is taking the blame. Never mind that he’s had how many head coaches and offensive coordinators? Yeah…I pray Jason proves all the naysayers wrong this year.
Campbell talks about the lack of support he received during the offseason fromthe Washington Redskins’ organization:
“It’s, well, tough sometimes,” Campbell said on the sideline after practice. “I am fine now, but there were a couple of times in the off-season I felt like a piece of tissue they were flushing down the toilet.”
