St. Louis Rams defensive tackle Fred Robbins found his dream lady in PR consultant and event planner Tia Robbins. The two got hitched in a gorgeous wedding on May 23, 2009 at San Destin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin Florida.

When Tia Watts met NFL defensive tackle Fred Robbins in a Minneapolis night club, the first thing she noticed about him was his dreamy eyes. But it was his sincerity that she fell in love with.
The couple sat down with Essence to discuss how they meet, the challenges they faced and how they made it all work.
Right Place at the Right Time:
People always say, “Never date a man you meet at the club.” But that’s exactly where Tia Watts met her husband, NFL player Fred Robbins, who was playing for the Minnesota Vikings at the time. At 24, Tia had just moved back to Minneapolis and was accompanying a girlfriend who had plans with one of Fred’s teammates. At the party, Tia and Fred were both starting to feel like the third wheel. That’s when he called her over and two started to chat. Read More…

The February issue of Essence Magazine is oozing sexiness with Reggie on the cover. Shame on Essence tho, this picture is and oldie but a goodie!! They couldn’t afford a photo shoot? I demand a picture of Reggie in a tub, with the water waist-high, and bubbles of course. Wishful thinking? okay.
ESSENCE’s first “Black Men, Love and Relationships” issue features its top 10 countdown of the sexiest men in sports, music and Hollywood. Then ESSENCE senior editor Jeannine Amber, channeling her inner bad girl, spins ten naughty tales starring some of our favorite men to curl up with. Reggie appears in the magazine along with Idris Elba, Lance Gross and LL Cool J.

New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards secretly fathered a child with “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Nik Pace — who is now suing him for up to $70,000 a month in child support. Edwards fathered a boy with the 25-year- old beauty, who was a finalist on Tyra Banks’ show in 2005, and she gave birth to Braylon Jr. in August in Georgia and Edwards, who makes about $5 million a year, immediately filed in Atlanta to be recognized as the father — but was shocked when Pace objected and sued for child support in New York.
Edwards’ lawyer, Randy Kessler, said, “Braylon is a proud father who has loved and supported his child since before he was born. He filed in June to declare himself the legal father and she objected.”

Pace’s lawyer, Raoul Felder, told Page Six: “Braylon had tried to get the case litigated in Georgia because they are traditionally less generous with child support payments. It’s a cold, calculated act to pay less money. But we had the case dismissed in Georgia and moved [it] to New York because this is where Nik lives. We served Braylon in the past week. He can run, but he can’t hide.” But Edwards insists he’s just trying to do the right thing by his child. “Nik’s main home is in Georgia, she is registered to vote in Georgia, and she gave birth in Georgia, which is why he immediately asked the courts in Georgia to recognize him as the dad,” a source said. “She only moved to New York in November after he was traded to the Jets. He wants to be part of the child’s life, but she wouldn’t even tell him where or when the child would be born so he could be there. He wants to provide for his son. He has been paying support since the birth.
Who knew? Not us, right? lol But not that having a child makes any difference, but can y’all stop saying the man is gay now?!
hmm..I wondered why Nik never revealed the name of the father when she interviewed with Essence!!

NY Jet Thomas Jones sat down with Essence magazine to discuss life and love. We hear and read about the negative images of NFL players all this time, this is definitely uplifting. I also know that his parents are very instrumental in his life. You can definitely see their positive influence.

Forget all the stereotypes you’ve heard about Black ball players. In his quiet and humble way, New York Jets’ Thomas Jones is redefining what it means to be a sports star as he takes care of his family and friends, finishes his Masters degree in education and builds a strong and monagmous relationship with actress girlfriend Megan Good.
ESSENCE.COM: Mr. Jones, you are more than meets the eye. What would people be surprised to know about you and what are some of the stereotypes you face as an athlete?
THOMAS JONES: Well, the three main stereotypes I hear about athletes that aren’t true are we aren’t intelligent, that we are greedy and that we don’t give back. I am finishing my Masters in Education and have always worked just as hard in school, as on the field. I never hear anything about my scholarship, but if I say something in the moment it’s everywhere. At the end of the day, everyone can’t do this job, so it’s easy to say we’re greedy, but we put our lives on the line. It’s like getting into a car accident every week when we’re on the field. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with being in the limelight, and we have to try extra hard to keep ourselves out of trouble. It’s hard. Trouble tries to find you.
ESSENCE.COM: Definitely. You’ve kept yourself out of trouble. What do you credit your success to?
JONES: My family has been the foundation. If it wasn’t for my dad, I wouldn’t be where I am. He pushed me. I had to get A’s and B’s or I couldn’t play ball; he made me do sit-ups, push-ups; I had to make my bed. I had to read the front page of the paper before I could read sports. It all played a big role in who I am. My parents are working on a book called “Blessings From the Dust.” My mom worked in the Virgina coal mine for 20 years to support us. My parents raised seven kids and they are an example of what a lot of people would want to be. They’ve been married for 35 years, and all their kids went to school. My brother and I are both in the NFL. It’s amazing. When he does well, I’m more happy than when I do.
