Apparently I’m a day late and a dollar short regarding K. Michelle and the release of her video. Shot in NYC back in March and released last week, NFL baller, Kerry Rhodes was tapped to play the leading male. He’s omitting some believable anger, I wonder if he knew about the trade on this day? LoL *muah Kerry*
Singer Room.com says that K. Michelle is the total package. R&B, Blues and Soul Music breed out of southern Tennessee and Memphis’ best kept secret is waiting for her special moment and sitting at the edge of her seat anticipating the opportunity.
Peep the video after the break. Read More…

Rex Ryan made a move to trim down his “sexiness” by undergoing a weight-loss operation this weekend. Ryan had lap-band surgery at NYU Medical Center in Murray Hill. Spotted in Jets fleece pajamas , coach spoke about why he opted to have the surgery.
“I want to see my kids grow,” he has said, the Daily News reported. “I want to see my grandkids.”
The coach weighed in at 340 pounds last year, good choice for him. The surgery limits what you put in your mouth, not what comes out. Thank goodness, I love his attitude!
Staying with the Jets, they signed RB LaDanian Tomlinson. Tomlinson picked the Jets over the Vikings, agreeing late Sunday to a two-year contract for $5.2 million. I don’t understand the signing considering they let Thomas Jones gi because they didn’t want to pay his $5.8 million salary for 2010. *shrugs* This is why I don’t get upset at players that bounce for a bigger paycheck. Know your worth – Jones signed with the Chiefs for two years, $5 million. Read More…

Born in 1962, in the steel town of Bessemer, Ala., Bo was the eighth of ten children. About his childhood, Bo remarked in his autobiography, “Bo Knows Bo, “We never had enough food. But at least I could beat on other kids and steal their lunch money and buy myself something to eat. But I couldn’t steal a father. I couldn’t steal a father’s hug when I needed it.” Because of a crippling stuttering problem, Bo did not show his talents in the classroom, but on the athletic field as an exceptional baseball and football player.
After accepting a scholarship from Auburn University, Bo was awarded the Heisman Trophy in 1985 after rushing for 1,786 yards. When Bo Jackson came out of college as the best football player in the country, he shocked the sports world by deciding to play both professional football and baseball. This was unheard of, but not only did he play two sports, he starred and excelled in both sports.

Unfortunately, at the height of his stardom Jackson’s football career was cut short and his baseball career hindered by a serious hip injury caused in an NFL game. Bo’s hip was eventually replaced and his career as a marquee, all-star athlete was virtually over, although he did play two more baseball seasons with an artificial hip.
Keeping a promise he made to his mother before she died of cancer in 1992, Bo went back to Auburn and earned a college degree in family and child development in 1995. Read More…

NY Jet Thomas Jones sat down with Essence magazine to discuss life and love. We hear and read about the negative images of NFL players all this time, this is definitely uplifting. I also know that his parents are very instrumental in his life. You can definitely see their positive influence.

Forget all the stereotypes you’ve heard about Black ball players. In his quiet and humble way, New York Jets’ Thomas Jones is redefining what it means to be a sports star as he takes care of his family and friends, finishes his Masters degree in education and builds a strong and monagmous relationship with actress girlfriend Megan Good.
ESSENCE.COM: Mr. Jones, you are more than meets the eye. What would people be surprised to know about you and what are some of the stereotypes you face as an athlete?
THOMAS JONES: Well, the three main stereotypes I hear about athletes that aren’t true are we aren’t intelligent, that we are greedy and that we don’t give back. I am finishing my Masters in Education and have always worked just as hard in school, as on the field. I never hear anything about my scholarship, but if I say something in the moment it’s everywhere. At the end of the day, everyone can’t do this job, so it’s easy to say we’re greedy, but we put our lives on the line. It’s like getting into a car accident every week when we’re on the field. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with being in the limelight, and we have to try extra hard to keep ourselves out of trouble. It’s hard. Trouble tries to find you.
ESSENCE.COM: Definitely. You’ve kept yourself out of trouble. What do you credit your success to?
JONES: My family has been the foundation. If it wasn’t for my dad, I wouldn’t be where I am. He pushed me. I had to get A’s and B’s or I couldn’t play ball; he made me do sit-ups, push-ups; I had to make my bed. I had to read the front page of the paper before I could read sports. It all played a big role in who I am. My parents are working on a book called “Blessings From the Dust.” My mom worked in the Virgina coal mine for 20 years to support us. My parents raised seven kids and they are an example of what a lot of people would want to be. They’ve been married for 35 years, and all their kids went to school. My brother and I are both in the NFL. It’s amazing. When he does well, I’m more happy than when I do.
