According to Variety: Less than a week after premiering its basketball-themed companion, VH1 is moving forward with an eight-episode order of unscripted series “Football Wives.”
Similar to “Basketball Wives,” which launched this past weekend, “Football Wives” will follow the ups and downs of spouses of NFL stars. It is tentatively scheduled to bow toward the end of 2010.
The new version of “Football Wives” should not be confused with the fictional program “Football Wives” that was based on ITV series “Footballers Wives” and ordered to pilot by ABC in 2007. However, U.K. production company Shed Media is behind both the new VH1 “Football Wives” and the earlier incarnations.
Nick Emmerson, Jennifer O’Connell and Alex Demyanenko of Shed are exec producing.
I was a huge fan of the U.K.’s version of Footballers Wives, so I hope they don’t let me down. If it’s anything like E’s True Hollywood Story: NFL Wives, I won’t be watching. That joint was boring as hell. Let me know who you’d like to see on the show.
Here’s what folks are saying about the show on Twitter:
